Maria Camilla Pallavicini

She lives and works in Rome.

She has lived since her childhood in the Galleria di Palazzo Pallavicini, one of the most beautiful private picture galleries in Europe, where began her love of art that then grew and grew. In the 1960s, she started to dedicate herself to painting in the studio of Signora Lipinsky in Rome. After, she enrolled at the Scuola del Vedere (Internationale Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst Salzburg), under the direction of Oscar Kokoshka, in Salzburg, Austria, where for three years she attended the Summer Academy, winning the second prize among all the students on the course. For her, this amazing experience opened her eyes and changed her life profoundly. In 1962, in Madrid, she worked side by side with the painter, Benjamin Palencia. Back in Rome, she attended life Painting courses at the Academy of Fine Arts under the watchful eye of Lino Bianchi Barrivera. From 1965, while she was busy with the management of the family estate, she continued to paint, albeit at a slower pace.

Personal exhibitions

In 1982, she exhibited for the first time in Venice at the Graziussi Gallery. There followed other personal exhibitions: in 1983, 1985 and 1987 in Rome, at Studio S di Carmine Siniscalco; in 1986, she exhibited at Palazzo Massari in Ferrara; and in 1998, also in Rome, at the International Institute for Contemporary Art, Arte in scena. Abroad, she exhibited in 1991 at the Associazione A.S.C.B.E. of Strasbourg in France; and 1992 in New York at the Nour Foundation. From May 27 to June 20, 2017, was her most recent solo exhibition at the Triangle Art Gallery in Cosenza with the exhibition “Geometry 2016-2017” on which occasion was the publication of the “Works 2017-1962” catalogue, edited by Giorgio Di Genova and published by the Gangemi Editore. Also in 2017 she had a personal exhibition at Gangemi. In 2018 she exhibited her works in Rome in a personal exhibition at Galleria Vittoria directed by Tiziana Todi, entitled “The Geometries of mood states,” with text by Prof. Giorgio Di Genova. Between 2023 and 2024 her solo exhibition entitled “Il vocabolario cromatico” (“The Chromatic Vocabulary”) was displayed at the Galleria Vittoria in Rome.

Group exhibitions

More recently, she has participated in some group exhibitions including: in 2015, Art Journeys in Italy 2015, at Mitreo Iside in Rome and Generations Compared at Palazzo Sforza Cesarini in Genzano; in 2016, at the 43rd Sulmona Prize in the Polo Museale Civico Diocesano, in Periscope on Art in Italy at the Castello Ducale of Corigliano Calabro. In 2017, she participated in Generations Compared in the Ancient Printing House of the Monumental Library of the Abbey of St Nilo at Grottaferrata and later, in 2021 in a group exhibition dedicated to plastic pollution in the seas entitled “Immersion,” at Galleria Vittoria in Rome. In 2022 he exhibited in Warsaw for the group exhibition “It’s Time – Climate Change through the 4 Seasons” curated by Tiziano M. Todi.

The latest group shows are in 2023, at the Aranciera of San Sisto, headquarters of the Department of the Environment of the Municipality of Rome and ACI – Automobil Club Roma Headquarters, at the Museo del Presente in Rende (CS) and at the Palazzo Chigi Albani in Soriano nel Cimino (VT) on the occasion of the 2023 Centro Prize in memory of Giorgio Di Genova, where she won the first prize ex aequo.

For more than 20 years, she has been involved in the cultural world as President of the Athenaeum Association N.A.E. that organises research studies on the universal principles of ethics applied to different areas of life. Athenaeum concerns itself primarily with young people in high school, organising conferences on the principles of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, namely Dignity, Freedom, Justice, Solidarity, Citizenship and Equality. It also screens films followed by debates with film directors, on the same topics. Furthermore, Athenaeum N.A.E. collaborated with Monsignor Samuele Sangalli of LUISS University on the Professional Ethics course, and working with Fatebenefratelli Hospital, the association works on health and prevention, focusing on issues related to alcohol, smoking, and substance abuse, as well as food-related diseases. She also organises scientific conferences on topical issues and sponsors and supports humanitarian projects.
